Facebook Update To Allow Video Uploads Too

facebookwvideo

While we won’t be getting Push Notifications in the next release of Facebook for iPhone, we will be getting video uploads.

Thanks to Joe Hewitt, the developer in charge of the Facebook iPhone app, we found out yesterday about all the new features coming in the next major update to the app. The update was said to be 98 percent finished.

Well, today he announced video uploads will also be possible in the update. You will of course need an iPhone 3GS to benefit.

“3GS video uploading for the Facebook iPhone app is a go — didn’t plan to include it in the 3.0 update, but it was really easy to code,” Hewitt said on Twitter.

He said there is no specific date for when it will be submitted but from the sound of things it should be extremely soon.

In other “important” news, MySpace issued an update to their app today. Bug fixes.

Zombie Assault by BIGITEC - not your usual zombie game!

Im coming............

I'm coming…………

Hey.

We would like to introduce Zombie Assault to you!

It has been featured by pocketgamer.co.uk, sarcastic gamer radio podcast and other well-known sites.
(Read this review)

It is a one-of-a-kind comical pick-up-n-play casual game and is very addictive. Zombies are walking on 3 different paths on building roofs and you have to stop them. There are 10 different traps on those paths which you simply tap to activate. Each trap has its own kill & recharge time, so timing and speed is important to last and get higher scores.

Get it for 0.99$ now and tell us what you think about it! We’d love to get some feedback from you, because we are currently working on an update which will make the game even more interesting!

iPhone SMS Vulnerability Identified; Apple Working On A Fix

iphone-sms

Mac OS X security guru Charlie Miller has discovered a gaping security hole in the SMS application in the iPhone OS 3.0., According to Engadget Mobile. As Mr. Miller puts it, the vulnerability allows hackers to:

“run software code on the phone sent by SMS over a mobile operator’s network in order to monitor the location of the phone using GPS, turn on the phone’s microphone to eavesdrop on conversations, or make the phone join a distributed denial of service attack or a botnet.”

Clearly this is a problem for everyone who uses SMS and in the interest of not allowing any real world attacks using this security hole to be deployed, Mr. Miller didn’t disclose the methods or tools needed to successfully breach the privacy of victims.

More than likely Apple will be including a fix for this in it’s upcoming release of iPhone OS 3.1 which recently was made available in beta form to developers.

ROLANDO 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid Has Hit

ROLANDO 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid has just hit the App Store. Rolando was one of the most popular games when it was first released in December of last year, and built up quite a bit of hype. Will Rolando 2 live up to it’s predecessor? So far it seems like it. Check out the Rolando 2 website. Also, check back soon for a detailed review.

3D Fireworks 2

Way back in November of last year I reviewed KDR Software’s original version of 3D Fireworks and it was pretty good! They’re back with this new version that incorporates a city skyline and a whole mess of settings to play with, one of the coolest being the ability to set the “auto-launch rate” which controls how often stuff explodes in the sky. You also get to choose what types of fireworks are shown and you can even throw in a UFO if multicolored explosions just aren’t enough for you.

3D Fireworks 2 is waaaayyy better than the first release but unfortunately it still doesn’t defer to iPod music so if you were hoping to sync the fireworks show to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture I guess you’re out of luck. Speaking of which, I think that would be a pretty cool feature for a future update! I don’t know how it would be executed since the fireworks need to be launched into the sky before they go boom, but a fireworks show set to music is always better than one that isn’t.

This app will probably lose some its luster after America’s July 4th holiday passes, but for $.99 it’s a deal (and apparently the price goes up after July 3rd) so you may as well get it while there’s plenty of luster to go around. For a quick tryout, you can play with the lite version online.
